The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s El
Paso Area Office has renewed an alliance with the David L Carrasco Job Corps Center in El
Paso, TX. The alliance is designed to help promote worker safety and health for young adults.
The Job Corp program is designed to offer academic classes and vocational training courses to
young adults. This alliance allows OSHA to continue to disperse material and knowledge to the
Job Corps which promotes understanding of the workplace safety and health responsibilities of
workers and employers.
“Since our alliance began more than seven years ago, Job Corps has been an excellent partner of
the agency, communicating safety and health information to their staff and students and
supporting OSHA’s initiatives for workplace safety,” said Diego Alvarado Jr., OSHA’s area
director in El Paso. “By recommitting to our collaborative efforts, we strengthen our ability to
promote workplace safety and health to a new generation of workers between the ages of 16 and
24.”
If you own a business in the greater El Paso area, this renewed alliance simply reinforces
OSHA’s strong position on workplace safety for young adults entering the work force. As such it
is important to be sure your occupational safety and health policies and procedures are
compliant, especially as they relate to employee training of younger employees. If you have any
questions or concerns relating to your current occupational safety and health policies and
procedures, it might be a good idea to consult a third party occupational safety and health
auditing firm to review them to ensure you are compliant.
If you have any questions about how this alliance will impact your company or if you have any
questions about your current occupational safety and health policies and procedures, please
