The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has

cited Express Construction 3 Corp. for seven safety and health violations, comprised of three

willful, one repeat, and three serious violations. They come in response to an inspection of a

worksite in Coopersburg, PA in December of 2014. This inspection was initiated as part of the

agency’s regional emphasis program on falls in construction. As a result of the findings of the

inspection, Express Construction 3 Corp. has been placed in OSHA’s Severe Violator

Enforcement Program. These violations carry proposed penalties of $112,200.

“By ignoring OSHA safety standards, this company is putting its employees at risk every time

they are on the job,” said Jean Kulp, director of OSHA’s Allentown Area Office. “Employers are

responsible for ensuring that workers have a safe and healthy work environment.”

The willful violations were for not providing fall protection, personal protective equipment, and

the proper ladder. The repeat violation involved defective ladders. The three serious citations

were for workplace safety violations, including exit, fire and staircase handrail hazards.

As you can see from this inspection, OSHA investigators will do a thorough inspection of a

jobsite, not stopping at the first issue they find. So it is important to be sure your entire worksite

is safe and up to code, otherwise you could find yourself on the receiving end of a hefty fine.
