In occupational safety and health, creating the new policies or procedures is usually the hardest.
Making adjustments or updates to existing policies and procedures can present an issue, but there
is at least a base plan to work with. When starting fresh, however, this is not the case. For some
areas of occupational safety and health, this is more difficult to account for than others. For some
areas, there are online guides, simple guidelines, or common sense can help. For other areas of
occupational safety and health, there are more complicated guidelines and policies and
procedures need to be more specific to the individual facilities.
One such area of occupational safety and health which is more difficult to work with is lockout
tagout. Lockout tagout policies and procedures are guided by OSHA Standard 1910.147. This
standard sets the minimum guidelines for lockout tagout policies and procedures. It is, however,
also an extremely complex and convoluted standard. It must account for a number of different
scenarios and as such every single facility must have unique policies and procedures created to
account for these complexities.
In order to help employers create these policies and procedures, we have created our Factory
Solutions Software. It is a web-based program which allows you to create, manage, update, and
maintain your lockout tagout policies and procedures from anywhere there is an internet
connection. These policies and procedures are created by you, however they are monitored by a
leading third party lockout tagout auditing firm. So you have the peace of mind to know the
policies and procedures are compliant, but you still have the flexibility to make changes as they
are needed.
